Children playing are enjoying themselves enormously. Their fun increases when they move their bodies even more. Yet, getting older means for many of us that the fun part is not related to exercise any more. Going into a gym or doing any kind of exercise is hard for many women over 40- so it's getting harder and harder to lose weight permanently.

However, things could be different. If you're exercising regularly, you'll feel better. People tend to feel more energy, feel more efficient and productive and are emotionally more balanced.

Researchers looked into the effects of exercise on the quality of life- participants were women after menopause. The women were all overweight or obese with a inactive lifestyle. The women were placed on 3 different exercise plans with varying intensity level. A control group did not do any exercise.

The results are interesting: Even if the women did not lose any weight (that means, they counterbalanced the exercise by consuming more), their quality of life increased. The more exercise, the better the well-being- the higher the intensity of the exercise, the higher the quality of life.

The exercise program providing the lowest intensity made the women feel better as well. Naturally, to lose weight permanently over 40 you have to incorporate physical activities in your lifestyle. But you shouldn't do it only because you want to lose weight. Exercise will make you feel better and increase the quality of your life- especially if you are over 40.
